We Invite You To Join, Transfer, Or Renew Your Membership At Post 300 In Columbia!

Thank You For Your Service In The United States Armed Forces!

When you join the American Legion, you will be joining our family of Veterans who have decided to answer the call once more. As a service Post, we have no bar or function hall, so we focus on serving those who need our help. We welcome you to our close family of over 300 members from all branches and campaigns dedicated to serving other Veterans, Families, Children and Youth and the Howard County Community.

Since we do not have a physical post, we have almost no overhead so we don’t spend too much time fundraising. Instead, we sponsor a number of activities and programs to bring the mission of the American Legion to our community. We are one of the newest Posts in the State of Maryland and we fill the gap that existed between Laurel and Ellicott City as the Town of Columbia grew to warrant a local Post.

We are now the fastest growing Service Post in Maryland.

Our monthly meeting space takes place at the Cornerstone church with a large function room for our use. We have a monthly speaker program and other entertainment and enrichment programs. We typically greet 40 to 50 members at our meetings. During these meetings we discuss what we’ve been doing over the past few weeks and what is planned in the coming months. We hope you will learn about some activities that interest you. Mark your calendar! We also promote fun and fellowship at our monthly Mission BBQ lunches. We invite members to tell “vignettes” of their time “back in the day”, whether serious or humorous. We now attract over 25 members to our Mission BBQ lunches and they continue to grow in popularity.

Here is where and when our gatherings are held:

You do not have to actively participate and we understand everyone has a busy schedule these days with family, sports, work and other activities. However, we do have many opportunities to participate with something for everyone. Check out our Member Opportunities List. Our website will constantly update our programs and schedule so you can check out what’s happening whenever you wish.

You will meet some new friends, men and women veterans from most campaigns, and we all share stories and friendly conversations. Our members have shared that they appreciate the camaraderie and fellowship they feel in our family, and that they gain much more than they bring to our events.

Currently we are promoting The Legion’s number one priority: “Be the One”, our national program to reduce Veteran suicides. Join us to make “Buddy Check” calls to our fellow veterans. We are finding that many of our comrades feel lonely or depressed, so we listen to them and offer them comfort and solutions. We have many professional services that we can offer to bring comfort and help. For true mental health emergencies, we ask them to call “988 Press 1”, the national suicide hotline. They will be immediately connected to a trained specialist. We bring a wide array of referral services for a myriad of local Veterans Services and we are affiliated with the VA, the MDVA, and the Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families. All you need to do is ask us and we can point you in the right direction.

With gratitude and appreciation for your Military Service and Legion membership, we welcome you to Post 300! Call or email me if you have a question. I am here to serve you.

Thank you!

Respectfully and in Service,

George Delaney
